The Farmington Valley

I grew up in a town called Avon. Avon is located in the Farmington Valley of Connecticut. The towns in the Farmington Valley are all relatively small and, in a way, they all blend together. Simsbury and Canton are to the north of Avon, and Farmington is to the south. New Hartford and Barkhamsted are at the far west of the Farmington Valley and Granby and East Granby are at the far north. There are also smaller towns within towns such as Unionville which is part of Farmington and Collinsville, which is part of Canton. The Farmington River runs north and south through the Valley. Talcott Mountain is on the east side of the valley and a widespread, wooded, beautiful camping and hiking area called Nepaug is on the west side. Click here for a map of the valley.

This website is a description of various aspects of the Farmington Valley from the perspective of someone who grew up there for eighteen years, me! I hope you enjoy reading about things to do if you are ever in Connecticut. I had a good time there and I'm sure you would too.
